Why do people get so arsey

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm convinced that 95% of arsiness roots in pride. Everyone always has to be right these days. And if they do happen to be proven wrong, then they must be a victim, the world is set against them. We live in an age where social interaction is more and more consisted of copouts and lack of accountability and less and less on honesty and good will towards others.

I'm happy to be wrong sometimes. It usually means I've learned something potentially valuable. For this reason I have been arsey, am currently arsey, and will surely arse again.

I think this thread should probably get moved to the lounge as it digresses further and further from aquaria. I could be wrong though. Let's go mods! I cant be doing your job for you all the time. Get your collective arses together, moot this issue of the misplaced arsiness thread, and take action damnit!

ARSE!
Damn that's a whole load of arse.

Love that response , hats off to being arsey and admits will be arsey again.
I agree with the part that this is moving further away from aquaria but the reason it was started was because of aquaria and still is about aquaria and why people get the way they do ( such as when you get arsey haha ) when people are looking for advice or information about the hobby of fish keeping.

Alright I gotcha. A couple big reasons imo:

-widespread ignorance in the hobby regarding proper husbandry practices, specifically irresponsible keepers releasing their fish into the wild, has not only perpetuated lingering ecological problems, but in turn has resulted in a lot of public misinformation, led to rules and regulations that have been harmful to the hobby like bans on certain fish--monster fish in particular. We hate to see ignorant keepers spouting off on here because we think "this is the guy who got the Asian arowana banned."

-We are fish lovers here. Many of the keepers here prefer the company of fish to other people. When we see a fish suffering from a keepers ignorance, ticks us off. Pretty simple imo.

People shouldn’t be releasing fish in to the wild if it’s causing problems to eco systems.
I wouldn’t know what it was like to have the arowana banned as I’m from London,England and they are ok to keep here ( I had a lovely RTG ) but I could imagine it’s annoying as most people are missing out on keeping them in the hobby - I don’t actually know why they are banned in American.

I would give my arowana rights in a heartbeat to get a fraction of the selection the Americans have lol.

RealCrix220 RealCrix220 , if im not mistaken there banned here because they are endangered in their native habitat. Granted the ones we get now(I say we in the global hobby sense) are all farmed now why we can't get the farm raised ones is beyond me. And don't get me started on the beautiful snakeheads that we don't get to keep either

I can’t help be read things where people are asking for help or information as they are new to fish keeping or just asking for real life experiences that people have had because they want to learn and boy some people get right hump and sometime it reads rude. I’ve seen some people talking to people as if they are stupid and should know better.
why are people like this and does anyone else agree or see where I’m coming from

who’s ready for a laugh lol
I'm a little late, but I can honestly say I was the "arse" in my younger years. Late teens, early 20s.
Part of it was immaturity. Part of it was I just didn't like being told I was wrong. As I grew, I realized that nobody in these kinds of places are out to get me and everyone is just looking out for the overall health and happiness of the fish or whatever other kind of pet.
Once I came to that realization, interaction became much easier and any help I needed was suddenly readily available. Not to mention, once I had stepped away from constant defense, everyone seemed much friendlier.
Now I take any criticism as a learning opportunity instead of a reason to put on the boxing gloves to defend something that I'm probably not doing all to great at.

Well I think your all stupid idiots who know nothing. I keep my betta in a bowl and 50 pacu and 5 red tail cats in a 10g! And 15 Oscar's in my 55!
