I definitely think copepods are a good idea. Them, amphipods, and mysis. Great little scavengers and they really add another dimension of life to the tank. Also good food for corals, fish, and inverts.
Coral will want more light, but 8 hours is a good rule of thumb when dealing with algae.
I agree about the work. Saltwater isn’t too difficult. But coral and its needs are where saltwater gets its reputation. Probably equal in maintenance to a large freshwater tank or some of the demanding oddballs.
