During the pandemic, it was a lot of stress though. Working from home, spending so much time with your family in a small space. I have almost got crazy. I tried to be busy and do many things at home. Fortunately, now we can go outside.

Hello; Have any of you heard of a side effect from the vaccine which is getting a case of shingles? A family member told me he had such after a first shot. He also knows a second person this has happened to.

My wife got her first shot 4 days ago; no side effects whatsoever. I could have gotten mine the same day...but I was at work in the north.

Today I got an email informing me that I am eligible for a vaccination in the small town close to the work camp, with transportation to and from provided by the company. This offer is available to me tomorrow only. I am...of course...home for the week. :(

Hello; Been talking to a few people the last weeks. Seems to be a pattern of sorts. Most around here I have spoke with are getting Moderna vaccine. Several have had strong bad reaction to the second dose as I did.
One woman I spoke to had a strong reaction to the first dose. This leads me to think she likely had a case of the actual virus, recovered and was already naturally protected. The first vaccine shot made her quite ill. I mentioned to her that a second dose might not be a good idea but could tell she did not think much of that. I figure a lot of folks had a mild or asymptomatic case of the wild virus and are already well enough protected. The vaccine injection is loaded with bits which mimic the shape of the external virus spikes. My thinking being this throws the immune system into high gear when such a large amount of what it recognizes as the virus shows up from an injection of vacccine. This seems to me to be a likely reason for such strong reactions to a first vaccine injection.

When we have a natural infection of a strain of some other virus naturally and recover the immune system is primed to react if it detects that virus again. Say you have a flu and get well. Odds are while that strain of flu is still circulating thru the human population you will be exposed again to someone shedding virus. We do not much notice the second or third or fourth infection as the body is ready to deal with the virus.
Here is speculation on my part. When we get a secondary dose of a wild virus from sick people there is perhaps not as much viral load as compared to the vaccine injection. Another speculation is the way we pick up wild virus is different than an injection deep into muscle. Any way my thinking is millions have already been infected with the wild virus and recovered so do not need the vaccine. I took an antibody test by having a bit of blood drawn before taking the vaccine. My antibody test was negative, had it been positive I would have skipped the vaccine.

Afraid some of the things the "experts" are saying and doing do not make sense. I see fully vaccinated people and people who are known to have recovered from the virus still wearing a mask on TV. Wearing a mask and social distance is still being suggested for those of us who are vaccinated. Some other official "experts" have stated the opposite which makes more sense to me. I have stopped wearing a mask since two weeks after my second vaccine injection.
We are being told the vaccines are approaching well over 90% effective and that those naturally recovered have a high level of natural immunity. So why the need for a mask?? We are also learning the immune reactions are lasting for proven longer times and it is suggested they will continue to last.

I do have some ideas about why there is such a push to get all vaccinated even those who have naturally recovered from the virus, but at this point only pure guesswork. Anyway I intend to go about business as was usual. I am lucky in that the two states in my area I visit most often are not very restrictive. Having survived the virus I now hope to survive the ongoing economic disaster of the lockdowns and over the top government spending done in the name of the virus. I will need a few sheets of plywood this summer. The price of lumber is way up currently. Due to the virus? Already my groceries are costing more.

Along the same lines, we have an elderly friend in a nursing home back in Ontario. She, along with all residents and staff at the facility, have been vaccinated...but they are still in full lock-down mode, meaning no visitors, no coming or going. She has not seen her son in over a year, not even through a window...and she and everyone else are still always masked up when outside of their own personal rooms.

Why? I dunno...maybe because Big Brother feels that an example must be set; can't have folks running around breathing unfiltered air just because they have been vaccinated...might offend those who have not yet been jabbed...or those who refuse to get the shot. "Take the shot...it'll keep you safe...but don't take off the masks...that wouldn't be safe!"

Worries about liability? Maybe. Or, is it a case of...wait, hang on a second, gotta loosen up my tinfoil hat a smidge...is it just a case of the powers-that-be using the virus as a springboard towards exercising every-tighter control over the people? You know...scare the crap out of them (always a favoured tactic of government) and then, once they get accustomed to doing what they are told...you can tell them to do whatever you want and they will do it.

Gotta go...I think I hear a black helicopter landing in the yard...

Hello; Your take is among the speculations I think about. Another one is that some how the government has agreed to pay the vaccine maker companies per each dose of vaccine administered. This is big money for millions of injections. If the tens of millions ( maybe even over a hundred million) who have had the virus and recovered do not get a vaccine shot then that is less money. The old adage of "follow the money " has worked for centuries.

Just moments after I made my post here a little while ago there was a news report that those fully vaccinated do have an even higher level of immunity than previously thought. My recall of the numbers may be faulty but it was that in 60 some millions of the vaccinated only 6000 have tested positive for the virus. Of those 6000 almost all had very mild infections or no symptoms at all. Even that the vaccine is effective for the common variants going around.

Some more on the vaccinated or naturally recovered testing positive. Here is my take. Say I have the flu and recover or just have an effective flu shot. I will be immune for a serious infection, but will be able to be invaded by the same flu virus again. Say I were to kiss an actively infected person. I would get some viral load into my system. The virus would try to set up house keeping in it's favorite target cells as it always does. However the body will be ready to deal with it either with some antibodies, T-cells and such active in the blood or by making more of these virus fighters.
I would technically be re-infected and a test could be positive for the flu virus if I were given such a test at the right time. However my natural immunity would be well on the way to stopping the virus. The virus might damage a few cells before it was stopped, but it would be stopped long before I noticed any symptoms of any merit.
I figure the tales of those naturally recovered from covid or the vaccinated being re-infected are likely part of the way I just described it. A vaccine or natural immunity is not a protection like a bio-hazard suit which keeps a pathogen out of our bodies. It is more a way our bodies have of dealing with the virus which may get in again from time to time. The virus gets in if someone sneezes on me, but long before it can set up housekeeping my immune system defeats it.

If I have the wrong notion about this It would be of value for the "experts" to explain what is going on. Why do fully vaccinated folks in a nursing home have to still be restricted? It does not make sense without further information.

I had my 1st shot of the Moderna vaccine on 4/18 and had no reactions at all. I just had my 2nd shot on 5/16 and the day after just slight nausea, chills and headache and slept for 12 hours. Today I feel pretty good so far.
