New tank ( I already have it this time)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yea why? The table is strong and sturdy we tested it when we first got it to see how much weight it could hold and it’s surprisingly strong

The table shown in your pics looks like a small dining room table, not sure how the legs are attached but usually with a threaded stud and wing nut and not really meant to support between 500 and 600 lbs of tank and water.

Not to mention the ends are hanging off. That will break eventually.

That table is definitely a non-starter for this project. Between the multiple dead fish and all the other nonsense that's been going on, I suspect you may be skating on thin ice with your parents. If/when that table implodes, you will have an EPIC disaster on your hands.

Is this the tank that is leaking? If so, you need to empty it anyway. Take advantage of that by making a stand out of a few concrete blocks and a sheet of plywood. That is easy, cheap and super-strong. Sorry, but that table is a joke. How did you test it? Did you apply 500 pounds of pressure downwards on it? That's the minimum it needs to withstand, on a continuous basis.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you have demonstrated a propensity for not listening to other people's advice. For your own sake, please listen to what we are telling you now.

John he obviously Had a crane put 500 pounds of cement on his table to check? no but yeah the table will not stand. I had a tank on a table and the tank was 29g and it slowly started to damage the table due to its weight so I had to empty it and redo.

You're lucky you were observant and caught that. Otherwise, the collapse would have been quite spectacular.

The tank is an an absolute mess. I think that who I got it from resealed it at one point but didn’t know what they were doing and treating it like they were gluing it together and that’s all it takes. The silicone is everywhere on the outside of the tank and maybe an inch thick on the inside on the bottom and after putting vinegar on it for several minutes I could peel most of the silicone out. Not sure if the vinegar did anything that’s just what it said online as an option. I’ve removed maybe 5 handfuls of silicone so far and still have so much for to do.

What should I do for a stand?

I know I don’t have a good reputation for listening and taking advice but I’m trying to change that and I definitely will start taking all advice possible. Thank you guys so much I know you only want to help and I make that a big struggle by ignoring it all with my excuses but I’m going to try my best to keep up with everything for now on. I’ll start by aslijg What should I do as an appropriate cheap stand for a 55g.
