Another one that's not mine that was so bad I couldn't help but share. Something to add is that this person is making another mistake in not realizing what they have done is a mistake.

Well I have to say that for me at least a 55 gal tank will do just fine for up to 15 goldfish if you have enough filtration. I have 13 goldfish ranging in size from 1 inch to 7 inches in my 55 gal tank. And 2 gold dojo loach eels. And a sucker catfish. They are all super healthy and require minimum maintenance. I have in my tank a penguin 350 filter and a Aquion 55/75 filter and a bacteria bubble filter. All in all I have about 900gph of filtration. Not to mention I make my own filter pads out of 1 inch thick pond filter media and I use seachem ceramic bacteria filters bagged inside my power filters. And I have lucky bamboo growing in the bottom of the tank. And I have an over sized air pump.

I talked to the owner of the local pet store and they agreed 100% that the size of the tank makes no difference as long as you have more than enough filtration. Otherwise all the fish in the store would all be dead. You know how they pack X amount of fish into small tanks.

My 55gal tank will do me just fine for another year or 2 before I have to get another tank. So I say don't worry about the size of the tank until the fish get too large to swim around freely. Upgrade the heck out of your filtration and enjoy those cute fishies.

In seriousness, while I don't have the facilities to rescue 13 goldfish or a common pleco, I would rescue those weather loaches in a heartbeat if I had access to them. Hardy as they are, they won't last long at all in Didgeridoo's tank (and I'm 99.999999999999999999999999999999% sure they're dead at this point).

Must have been a close call. Something as simple as forgetting to plug it again could mean the end of the fish.

Although now wondering if that’s why I lost Helios and all but Jem of my first set of false Julii.

A month or 2 ago I thought my filter was broken but turned out I forgot to plug it back in after a water change.
I can relate to forgetting to pour in the heater and filter. It was a day for me. All the fish made it, but were clearly suffering from lack of oxygen. My crayfish did not survive.
