Zero Nitrates, no water change,. This is aquarium 2021.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Which biochar product are u using markstrimaran markstrimaran ?

My PH is typically in the 8.2 area with all the algea, A 60 watt scrubber is on 24/7. My water is very hard, lime deposits on the shower head . I have not tested it for much else recently.

Amazing,, Is that Blue Green Algea has not gained a foot hold and smotherd the coral peices. With 350 watts of lights going 16 hours per day.

I was crunching the numbers, as I get it for free. It is commercially available for $3.50 per gallon/ 3 pounds per gallon. In 20 gallon sacks shipping included.
I will check monday on which type it is. Its sold on Ebay, under Arti.

I have not used it long enough to really know how long it will last, depends on how many fish per gallon of water, and feeding amounts.

16 oz by volume, per 130 gallons brought my top tank from 40 ppm to 0 in about 30 days. I have not run it long enough to answer too many questions.

It's experimental, kind of like running 100 watts of 640nm leds verse 10 watts of 660nm, with piranha in one and tilapia in the other. Comparing algae srubbers.

Anybody open to trial run the stuff. I am in it figure out a 100,000 Gpd solution to waste water runoff, with about a billion $$dollar per day fine/lawsuit. Against farmers growing food.
Why do you get it for free? I think am am going to try this. My electric is extremely high where I live and if I could take one of my scrubbers off line or not have to grow pothos it might pay for itself. I have a 600 gallon tank and about 1100 gallons of total water volume and I am very heavily stocked. I tried AGC and I had numerous fish start to get hole in the head. The tank was up for over a year with no problem I dose trace minerals and as soon as I pulled it out it stop and is Progressively getting better with no other treatment. I know there's gonna be people on here that argue with me about that but I could just speak from my personal experience.

What is AGC?

I work their, and get to use it for experiments. Mostly growing plants

I am still waiting for nitrates to increase, in the one tank. Kind of remarkable, I think there is still micro fine particles still absorbing nitrates.

Ok, it's not a fish tank, but it gets watered with fish tank water. It's a cold November day. Next spring I hope to fill it up with used fish filtered biochar, as a growing media. It will actually be a modified version of this one. About 5' tall and 3' wide.
Changed out the bio char reactor in the algea tank, as nitrate increased up to 15ppm. My other tank is up to about 40ppm but saving it for the indoor aquaponics. Back flushed the mag pump, and the wave maker as flow gradually declined over the last month. Still doing good in my battle with blue green slime algea.
