Zero Nitrates, no water change,. This is aquarium 2021.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Did not work that great for me I have an extremely high bio load. Is bifar hands down the best Thing I had to reduce nitrate is a sulfur denitateor, second is pothos. For the record I have a continuous water drip Algae scrubbers pathos, sulfur denitateor . If you get a very good parasolic pump The sulfur denitrator is just about maintenance free when you get it going

Do you have a link to a sulfur denitrater or which one do you use? I've done some investigating on them in the past for anarobic denitrification and I heard good things about the AquaMaxx TS-3 but BRS never has it in stock.

I have no clue I never check it. Just about every fish in my tank is breeding The way I look at it is if my fish are breeding the conditions have to be Decent. I don't think I have a test kit or I would test it tonight just for the h*** of it. With my continuous water change going I couldn't imagine it being that much different

yeah I don't think your tank would have an issue with TDS due to your drip system. It was more about the OPs zero water changes and low nitrate levels.

I have that one. Would be willing to sell I have 2 of them.if you set it up with an ORP meter and Is parasolic pump it is maintenance free.

Does the ORP meter need to be in the reactor? I currently have one in the tank linked to my Apex and I'm wondering if that's good enough. I might have an extra one laying around though. What does the flow rate of the peristaltic pump need to run at? I'll have to get one of those and the ArtiChar to put in the TS-3 reactor.

That what I did and it did not work for me. Sulfur work way better

Still going. Progress has been slow. My main tank is still below 20ppm nitrate without any water changes. The recent batches of biochar have been 450 celcius. Which is too cool for aquarium grade. The newly built reactor kiln. Is getting the bugs worked out of it. Meanwhile I built a small batch reactor kiln that I can run samples thru at up to 1200f.

Working with some specialized biochar with a quicker reaction time and more absorbent characteristics. After the last batch about a month ago. Which actually leached nitrates. I have been studying up on the chemical processes involved and am working on a high efficiency char. Over the last 2 months I went from 2 cups to over a gallon of 550BCx. Then the Bc450 which never got past pre testing due to tannins. So today I am reloading with a 650BC and trying again. Then in a few weeks the ep650bc and another St650bc should be ready to test run.
