Chocolate Chaca Catfish
Chaca bankanensis

Size: 6.5”
pH: 6.0-8.0
Tank size: 30G/Individual
Country of origin: Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei
Diet: Live foods, can be weaned onto frozen and even dry
Temperament: Relatively peaceful, though predatory
Temperature: 75-80° F

Description

Wow, 150 already. I want to thank everyone who has supported this thread over the months. Anyway, Chaca bankanensis is a very close relative to the aforementioned Chaca chaca. These fish usually stay towards the bottom of the tank, buried in substrate, laying in wait for unsuspecting prey. May be compatible with particularly large tankmates such as Leporinus sp.

Garo Spineless Eel
Garo khajuriai

Size: 3”
pH: 7.0-7.5
Tank size: 7.5G/Individual
Country of origin: India
Diet: Live and frozen foods
Temperament: Peaceful. Predatory, though not a threat to to the majority of fish
Temperature: 75-80° F

Description

Closing month five is Garo khajuriai, a very rare Synbranchiforme native exclusively to India. This fish belongs to the family Chaudhurridae, the earthworm eels. The earthworm eels are a family of tiny, eel-like fish native to Asia, named due to the fact that they are very similar in size to actual earthworms. Of the fish featured on this thread, this may prove to be one of the hardest to obtain.

DAY 152

Humphead Carp
Bangana behri

Size: 20”
pH: 7.0-7.5
Tank size: 500G/1 small group
Country of origin: China, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia
Diet: Algae and biofilm grazer. Food should be algae or plant-based
Temperament: Peaceful, though should be kept with similarly-sized fish
Temperature: 75-80° F

Description

Opening month six is Bangana behri, a unique Asian carp known for its hump, similar to the ones seen on marine humphead wrasses, as well as a number of cichlids. Younger fish are rather drab and uninteresting in appearance, though this improves greatly with age. These fish are best kept in groups of three or more, therefore requiring a fairly large system.

These grow slow. Really slow.
Cool fish though they develop a dull gold color on the head and body when grown
