Stocking My New 150 Gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Probably but the SDs would make feeding a little tougher and I wouldn’t do pike cichlids with bichirs (from experience). Maybe odoe, SDs and BGK and endi
yeah, i meant odoe not cichlid sorry. i really like the idea of the odoe, thank you for that

No problem, I do want to clarify that the idea we’re talking about isn’t ideal but has a good chance to work, my first option is a much safer option, so just have a back up plan if things don’t work
I did something similar, odoe, bichirs, SDs and other characins in a 180 and that worked

which fish do you think would be at risk?

The endi could be a problem, I’ve had a few and some tried to eat everything and some were docile, they also get around 18”+ thick with a big head. The odoe could be skittish and bang into the sides, it just depends on the individual
I think delhezi, laps or even a weeksii would be a safer choice for bichirs
I was assuming you had a 4’ 150 but I noticed you also said 155, so what are the tank dimensions, that could make a difference

it’s a long tank not a tall, i believe it’s 60x18x36

Whenever it comes to the thought of whether an aquarium is big enough for a certain size fish, i like to consider what my thoughts would be if i were considering a smaller fish. Let’s say you had a 24 inch fish in that size aquarium, how many multiples of it’s body length would it have to swim side to side and front back? Now let’s downsize that to a 3 inch fish and consider the size aquarium that would result in that fish having a similar amount of space to the 24 inch fish and determine whether we would consider that adequate enough for that particular fish in addition to any tankmates we might add. This is not a perfect analogy, as some fish would prefer to almost never move at all, while others would be swimming non stop, but i do find it to be a decent general idea to consider.

well it looks like all these fish will be able to travel at least 6 body lengths from side to side. the bichir might be like 3, but from what i understand they’re not very active fish. idk lmk what you think
