Your least favorite aquarium fish and why

My least favorite fish I have owned is probably my banjo cat because he looks so cool and I haven't seen him in over a year

Chinese algae eaters. If I was Chinese I would be offended that someone named this fish after the country I come from. This fish isn't an algae eater, it's a scale sucking menace that shall be purged from existence. All it did was pick the scales off my other fish and piss everything off.

Gotta agree with you there and I've never even had one. Just the stories I've heard make me dislike them.

I got mine when he was about 4 inches and kept him until he was 8 inches. At that point, he was just causing so many problems so I ended up getting rid of him.

Ugh I'm sorry to hear that. I do love oto cats and if I had a bigger tank would get Siamese algae eaters though.

If I had to pick ONE to call my least favorite: Goldfish. I've watched them just swallow rocks trying to pick food out of the bottom, just don't see the appeal of any of them.

Otherwise, not a fan of African cichlids, flowerhorns, plecos, and knifefish just creep me out.

Agreed, I don't get why goldfish are supposed to be beginner fish, but never got in them either. Ditto with your other 4. I'm cool with any pleco under 6" but over that and it just freaks me out. Outside of tanganyikan cichlids under 6", can't say I'm a fan either.

Yeah, the genetically-fiddled monsters are bad enough...can't forget about the fish that are born "natural" and then undergo assorted mutilations to "improve" them.

I saw a pic of a large Giant Gourami recently which had an almost unbelievably uniform pattern of dots on its flanks. Turns out it was tattooed!

Crayfish. You can't put them with any fish because either they eat the fish or the fish eat them.

I would add Bass to the list. They aren't attractive but a lot of folks like them. Don't know what the appeal is unless they're interactive? Have no clue.
