Your least favorite aquarium fish and why

Now that I see your old thread I do recall having noticed it once before, but that is not the GG to which I was referring. The fish I meant was somewhere on YouTube and it was very symmetrically marked with a dot on virtually every scale. I remember thinking that the very few unmarked scales were probably replacements for ones that had been accidentally lost and then regrown.

Tattoos and piercings are great on people who have chosen to undergo the procedures themselves...but I find it abhorrent to see animals like tattooed fish and dogs with docked ears and tails and de-clawed cats. They've been subjected to these terrifying and often painful procedures to satisfy human vanity and foolishness.

I totally agree! And that you feel that way about mutilating cat and dog ears/tails/claws as well is a breath of fresh air, IMO. Too many ppl make the false claims it’s for health reasons when it’s really to create an unnatural, unfriendly aesthetic that robs the animal of some of its basic modes of communications.

im not saying viktor did this to this fish, nor that he sought it out but rather that’s the most “famous” ( in my nerdy fish mind) example I can think of.

I think there are only a few linebred morphs I like: golden synodontis nigrita albino H. Nemurus and if I could legally have them, Asian arowana

I agree, I hate BPs, not sure why because they’re colors are beautiful but something about them just rubs me wrong, especially the valentines day type
I haven't even heard of the Valentines version but I guess it's not hard to imagine what they look like.

Assuming they are just more short bodied and a heart shape? I think this is a lot of the ones found at say Petco

I was thinking more along the lines of heart shaped color blotches on the fish.
I’m pretty sure they have their tails cut off to make a “heart” shape.
My goodness!

Being a purist, my battle cry would be "Don't buy GMO!" but to each their own so long it is legal. Live and let live. Uphold, learn, educate, respect.

Thanks for reviving this thread, it was a fun read. Read through the whole thread and something I gotta get off my chest cause no one mentioned them, Cory cats. Hate is too strong a word but I've never found them interesting, just bumbling little puffballs that seem to be sprinkled in everyones tanks. As far as other fish go, hate is still too strong but my interest lies in natural fish, bold striking colors like african cihlids are still cool to me, as long as they're natural, but every step away from the fish that lives in that lake halfway around the world, or the stream that flows down the road is a step i don't like.
