Your least favorite aquarium fish and why

Assuming they are just more short bodied and a heart shape? I think this is a lot of the ones found at say Petco

I’ve heard the tails are cut off to make them heart shaped but I’m not really sure how they get that shape

Thanks for reviving this thread, it was a fun read. Read through the whole thread and something I gotta get off my chest cause no one mentioned them, Cory cats. Hate is too strong a word but I've never found them interesting, just bumbling little puffballs that seem to be sprinkled in everyones tanks. As far as other fish go, hate is still too strong but my interest lies in natural fish, bold striking colors like african cihlids are still cool to me, as long as they're natural, but every step away from the fish that lives in that lake halfway around the world, or the stream that flows down the road is a step i don't like.

I generally prefer not to have hybrids in my rift tanks but I love OBs and dragonbloods, but I don’t fill my tank with OBs, just one or maybe two

I can't stand Oscars or Red Tailed Catfish. Oscars are so boring and generic looking, it looks like a "fish," nothing fun at all

Oscars are cool, if they were rare or hard to get, people would be lining up for them and paying thousands

So many people are interested only if something is "rare". Amazing, beautiful and interesting fish...like Oscars...are ignored just because they are commonplace; their other qualities amount to nothing simply because everybody has them. Nope...gotta have something no one else has...

Its that way with everything, shoes, cars, clothes. The popular and-readily available things are like that for a reason. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it

Give me some slack man. I love my native grunters! I’d choose them any day over a Oscar. More personality IMO.

More power to you! If you like a common native fish I completely respect that...far more than people who only want something if nobody else has it...just because of its rarity.

One of my most prized specimens is my Stinkpot Musk Turtle...which is as common as, well...stink!

I also have a breeding group of plain ordinary Green Swordtails, and another of Heterandria livebearers, which will be among the very last fish I get rid of when I downsize further someday.

Keep what you like...not what other people think you should like.
