Love it, great collection u have! Appreciate the tips. I’ll get more drift wood and add to the bichir pile when i get some extra cash… Congicus have been on my mind lately anyway lol… i used to offer shrimp once a week along with pellets. They started refusing the shrimp tho and have been on pellet only for a few months now. I’ll have to try adding in tilapia.

go with a wood that doesn’t have too many sharp edges. I prefer manzanita for this reason. I also file down the sharp points and prune off some on the log.
I would try avoid shrimp as a staple for bichirs if you can. Shrimp has a higher content of thiamese which can hurt fish over the long run.
Starve your bichirs 2-4 days before you introduce the tilapia. Some bichirs can be pretty shy trying new foods.

Sounds like i got lucky then with them choosing pellets over shrimp. They really only packed in the shrimp for a few weeks when i first got them.

1st pics… pretty rough still… got lucky and he did eat hikari sinking gold 1st day. Fingers crossed to bulk up for a cple weeks before a round of prazi. Eyes are a bit not straight but the head shape is nice.
