So i have ordered a 4cm super red tiger oscar (they also sell standard red tiger oscars), im wondering will the super red tiger oscar have normal eye colour? Because to me the big white rimmed, googly eyes of oscars is a major reason i love them. Im just worried that a super red tiger oscar will have pure red eyes like the super red oscars (non tiger, just super red oscars) i have seen on youtube. Which i thought looked less anthromophisable because of it. What do you guys think? if he will have pure red eyes, il cancel the order and get a standard red tiger oscar. Does anyone have a super red tiger oscar they could show me some pics of? im not exactly sure what iv bought lol. Alarmingly if i look up super red tiger oscar on google images or on youtube all there is is red tiger oscars. Makeing me wonder if this is even a real type of oscar lol.

Normal?
What is normal?
In my narrow view....... only wild caught, or unaltered natural color oscars are normal
To me ....None of the man made color variants of oscars would be considered normal, they are all designer fish, just like glowfish, or fancy guppies.
If you see terms such Red, Super Red, Tiger, etc etc it means they are all "anthropomorphic" man induced, designer color morphs,
The one below is normal

But this doesn't mean the others are bad,
in fact many aquarium strains may be better for the inexperienced aquarium keepers because they are more likely locally bred, so accustomed to less stringent water parameters.
A true wild caught A mikoljii may require a pH of between 4 to 6, low conductivity water, with undetedectable nitrate.

But even aquarium strain oscars are prone to diseases like HIITH if over fed, and kept in adverse water parameters, without very frequent water changes.
The key to keeping oscars healthy and growing is frequent testing for nitrate, and as the oscar grows, doing enough water changes to hold nitrate concentration below 5 ppm, while at the same time expanding the size of your aquarium, to coicide with normal oscar growth.
While 50 gal (190 L) tank with a 50% water change per week may be ok for a 3 in (7.5 cm) oscar, that same tank will become totally inadequate for one twic that size, with the same water paltry water change schedule.

I started keeping oscars around 1960, but realized as a kid i couldn't provide adeqate housing for them.
It wan't until the 1980s when I aquired a 150 gal (570 liter ) tank that I considered that tank size sufficent, and would do, 100% water changes per week (30% + every other day) that they remained in tip top health.

....cosmetically i dont like the blood red eyes lmao. Just less visually pleasing to me, all i wanted to know is if is if it was likely they would have redder eyes like the other super red variants, or if they would have eyes like the standard tiger oscar.

TBH mate, your best guess will be as good as anyone else’s. The fish pictured by the seller appears to have the white rim you desire but unless the supplier is willing to show you a pic of the actual fish you are buying it’s gonna be a “wait and see” game 👍🏼
