I think he means while they are babies. I hope lollll.
I hope. I would say adult oscars need 125, 2 can make that as well. It's just having enough space for them to swim comfortably

Kittiee Katt Kittiee Katt .....what do you think, Eb?
A few things, A: that's a wild fish, and they often grow better than the ones in our tanks.
B: That's a common goldfish, I wouldn't keep that in a 55
C: Fancy golds often don't reach the same size and so on.

Also my goldfish grow very slowly with twice weekly feedings, I would rather grow them slowly than stunt them further until I can get a larger tub for them and find space for it.

The smaller fancy varieties will work in a 55, but bigger is always better:)

I don't think it's a good idea to suggest a 55g for goldfish........

....after all, they get BIGGER than Oscars. lol Goldfish belong in ponds, IMO

Although Franks photo is a wild fish, goldfish kept in good conditions will (and should ) grow quite large.
I believe the fact most don't grow, is because some aquarists don't provide conditions needed. Even the fancy type should be given large enough quarters to reach potential.
The one below started out at 0.5" a little over 2 years before this pic was taken.
