    Getting ornate to take filets

To be honest I wouldn't be too concerned, drop a nice pile of cut up filet just before lights out. If you've seen it eat shrimp pellets it could help to drop a few right on top of the filet to attract it's attention. My endli won't show itself in the daylight so I always make sure to srop a...

    LMB

Yep, it'll be stocked with cut throat, and rainbow. My uncle was considering dumping a pike in there for the winter but I urged him to just let the lake be. Not sure what subspecies it is, I've been looking around but haven't found much yet, hoping someone here can help out. When I caught him...

    LMB

Hey guys, lets see those pictures of your large mouth bass. Here's mine, caught right off the dock, someone thought it would be nice to make the lake their personal pond :irked: so the bass and mostly sunfish completely out competed the trout :( Anyway the lake is being poisoned this spring...

    Senegal Bichir Growout Tank

I've never encountered a poly that refuses tilapia filet or earth worms. If you're having problems I'd highly recommend those. Of the 4 polys I've owned none have ever touched blood worms, frozen or freeze dried, but each is individual and has preferences. For smaller polys I've had good luck...

    Ich treatment

How long does the salt treatment have to go for to be fully effective? I'll look into getting a hydrometer, is there an approximation of how much I'd have to add per gallon to achieve the .003?

    Ich treatment

Same, this is my first experience with ich, and I hadn't thought it would be so difficult to get rid of. I'm going to start 50% daily changes keep up the heat, and hope for the best. I can't really afford the cost of salt if I'm replacing it so often. So I'm hoping the heat and constant water...

    Are senegalas good starter polys?

Stick with an upper jaw species, mostly for size considerations, most polys will work just fine, they're very hardy fish, and are quite personable. I'd personally recommend a senegal, primarily because of their availability and lower price tag. As I said they have great personality and...

    Ich treatment

So long story short, my gf (now ex) got me a couple raphael cats, something I've wanted fr a while since they're so adorable. Thing is she got them from WalMart, so they had ich. At the time I was away visiting family and she decided to put them to my 40g growout with my endli, and large mouth...

    bathtub aquarium/pond

Not quite sure what other fish you already have, but you could always start breeding convicts for food :)

    bathtub aquarium/pond

Pffff, bathing with your fish is a great way to make sure they stay clean, don't want them stink do you? In all seriousness, I don't see why it wouldn't work, I would definitely make sure the tub is cleaned thoroughly. There's a pretty good chance there's soap and chemical buildup which will...

    RIP Delhezi Bichir

Sorry for your loss man, I still remember losing my first poly :( I tried everything but she was gone. That feeling sucks, beautiful del sorry it ended like it did.

    How long does driftwood tan?

:( I was knid of hoping to hear the water cleared up quickly, I've had a good bit of wood for maybe a year, and was wondering if something was wrong. Still leaching, but with the amount of water changes I do it's not so bad I guess :/

    Rehoboth Aquatics

I've heard some good things about them with the polys they sell, but I've never done business with them, so take it with a grain of salt. At any rate bump, hope you can get some help with them.

    new 6foot

Great looking tank, huge fan of the uarus, lol 22 more CL's? Are you planning on adding any more fish to the tank or let the CL's grow up a little bit?

    Why do bichirs lay together?

Awww your gar thinks it's a poly :3

2 small bichirs in a 6ft comm tank

prawns would be great, so long as the polys are the same size it's unlikely they'll show any aggression towards one another. The pvc pipe and driftwood are great for hiding spots. Sounds like you've got this pretty well thought out.

TL's SECOND ARTICLE OUT! TFH FEB ISSUE :D

Great article, the last paragraph in particular stuck with me. The majority here on MFK enjoy keeping species most would never give the time of day to. They require a level of care most would balk at. But the love and enjoyment we find in these creatures is something so few experience. It's...

2 small bichirs in a 6ft comm tank

My main concern would be the aro eating the polys. Get them on a tilapia and hikari carnivore diet and they'll bulk up pretty quickly. If you give them enough hiding places they'll have time to grow up a bit without the aro getting any chance to snack.
