08TRDOFFROAD's 45 Gallon Build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am sorry, I don't mean to be defensive, but the tang police thing gets old. This isn't my first rodeo. I am well aware of the housing requirements of these fish and plan to house them accordingly.

The reason for the "temporary tanks" is that I don't have room for the 210 in my current apartment the space I planned to put it is 3 inches too small, and the more I think about it I have no desire to stack up several tons of rock and water on a second floor. The 90 g. will be plenty of space in the interim if necessary (I have had the blue tang for six months and have only seen a quarter inch of growth). I can't get into a house for another 18 months or so. If worse comes to worse I will rehome the Blue Tang with a local reefer on our local forum if my plans for the 210 fall through, the Kole will be fine in the 90 g I have in my living room when the time comes. Believe me, I am not sentencing them to a painful life in the 45 g. tank.

I didn't say you were. I work at a LFS I see people trying to buy them for a permanent life in a 20g tank all the time. Admittedly they'll be perfectly fine in a 45 for a long while. I just asked if you had a backup s'all.

That's too bad on the birdsnest it was coming along nicely. I was reading your thread on trt about that bubble algae a while ago. That must have been a pita to have to wait and take those out by hand. Your fish are coming along well, those corals have gotten a lot bigger since the start. Good to see the tank is cruising along keep the updates coming.

Thanks! What is your username on TRT?

Rofl I got banned there for using the username I use here. They offered to let me change it but I get alot of good peer feedback here and for anything else I stalk at reefcentral. I just really don't care for being censored because a couple of people are offended. My username is not racist or prejudiced in any way. I also like the nMe and have been using it for years. Stubborn, yes, but I haven't compromised my values. Lol sorry for the speech.

Yeah, they are quite a bit more strict than over here. I got a lecture over there when I first joined for posting the famous, "arguing on the internet is like running in the special olympic, either way you are retarded" picture. lol

Also go chewed out for putting "say NO to OBAMANATION" in my custom user title area.

Just to keep this on topic....lol

I am making arrangements to pick up a 3-4" Rose anemone this weekend....and.....wait for it....I am only paying $15 for it!

Hopefully this one doesn't meet the same fate as my first Green Bubble Tip did in my 90 g.......koralia+anemone=BAD!!!

Wow $15 man that is a sweet deal for an anemone that big. I am in the market myself for an rbta and a gtba. I will start wil just one and make sure my tank is balanced enough to sustain and then get the other. They compliment each other so well and the color combo is perfect for the coming holiday season ;) rofl.

Btw what lights are you running and how deep is your tank?

I think this goes without saying as your thread is well pictured but pics!

Right now I am running 2 Hellolights.com 150 W DE metal halides retrofits with 14k pheonix bulbs (for sale). My tank is 24" deep.

I am looking to switch to LED's in the near future though.
