Retics are actually a bad first choice unless you get them from a breeder and know what you are getting. Motoros make a better first ray choice.

Why? They are much more expensive.

Retics are often wild caught, so hard to get to feed and can have parasites. Even captive bred are hard. They have small mouths, so prepare foods in tiny pieces. Probably will need Earthworms or blackworms to get it to feed, then convert it over to frozen and pellets. They sometimes randomly die. It's probably the last species I'd recommend unless your short on dough.

If you really want a ray I would say save money up then purchase a pup from a captive bred source(DIDYIS and vamptrev among others)

You could try a retic but for the money and stress it is easier to buy a cb.
