hi im going to buy a 150 gallon tank dimensions are 72 1/2, 19 width, and 28 inch hieght and im putting jaguars , an albino oscar, sengal, bicher, pleco max 5 inches, and a gt so my question is would 1 fx5 fo the job because there rated for 400 gallons thats already 3 x more filtration or should i also use a fluval 405 with the fx5 or can i just use the fx5 :headbang2

A single FX5 for your 150G setup should be plenty, it's the sole source of filtration on my 170G. Long term though, I think it is a good idea to have a backup filter in place as well, whether this be another canister or just some air powered sponge filters.

Full of media, the Fluval FX5 only turns 640 gph. That is not enough IMO.

The FX5 and a 405 (or two) would be best, I believe.

Maybe even 2x FX5, but those get pretty expensive!

Use the FX5 with an additional AC110, if you don't want to buy a costly HOB. Buy a good sized sponge filter to add along.

600 GPH w/wo media

You can split the output of teh fx5 so you can create circulation in potential dead areas of the tank. Use 3/4" tubing.
