1 FX5 for 150 gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have a 150 rt now that has a 405 and a Fx5 on it. Im planning on putting another Fx5 in its place once the first one cycles to the tank. If you put the in tube at one end of the tank, then the return at the other, you should be ok. ALso depends on what you plan on having in the tank. But I always over filtrate, so that is why Im running more than just the one Fx5. You could also have a strong powerhead to get the water moving to make sure there are no dead spots..
Sorry if this has all been said before, I didnt read anything but the first page... :)

If you have the Fluval FX5 and 405 use them together. But the FX5 would be enough.

use 2, one in each corner of the tank due to the fact the tank is 6' long, I have (2) xp3's in my 150

The main reason I use two filters on big tanks, especially with monster fish, is in case one gets clogged or breaks. The back-up is invaluable when you have a lot of expensive fish.
