Thank you everyone, I just saw him grab a small feeder. He seems to be doing better, but does anyone know what is causing his cloudy eye? While the rest of the eye seems clear, there appears to be a small white orb on top of his pupil...

He is a great fish, hope I can bring him back. Added salt and increased the temp...

Thank you for all your suggestions, will post updates.
Melfax should take care of the cloudy eye. Other than that keep doing what your doing, glad to see that hes eating.
Good Luck

If he was beat up sometimes they will take bites to the eye....that makes them cloudy looking.....happened to one of my fish once...definitely get him some good stinky potent food with flavor additives....pellets are too bland/yucky right now. Cycling a tank can sometimes be done fast, but if I were you I guess I would take used still wet with tank water gravel.....some hideouts.....take the filter cartridges from a cycled tank and rinse them in the new tank water...used hideouts and plastic plants will work well too. YES THE NEW TANK NEEDS TO BE CYCLED IN MY OPINION. Any acclimation stress could kill him.....maybe just take all ten gallons of tankwater out of the 30 and put it in the 10...good luck!

Not sure if feeders are the best option for your EBJD...

Using gravels and water from an established tank would definitely help, but it would still take time to cycle the tank. Meanwhile, frequent and low percentage WC should help.

Good luck with it - it's already 4" so things can't be too bad...

Do not use feeders for an already sick fish. Use the money from feeders and by some bloodworms and some garlic juice and soak the bloodworms in it prior to adding them to the tank. Let him go a day without any food offered then try this method out. The garlic overwhelms their senses and is generally very appetizing to them. If they snag on it, then that's great because the bloodworms are filled with all kinds of good protein and nutrients that a sick fish needs.

That said, he sounds very far gone and the LFS was robbing you buy even charging for this fish, whicha re finnicky health wise anyhow. You said he was 4"? Most stories I hear about older ebjd's getting sick generally are for the worse. Where you expect the ebjd under 3" to get sick and die, once they pass that threshold you're generally considered safe. When they are sick past that size, they generally do not do so well.

I will say I have had no experience with this fish, however I read many sites, particular the allthignsdempsey forum for months awhile back when I was considering stocking ebjd's and everything you have descrbied are stories that I have read over and over again ending in bad news.

I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope your guy is in the % that somehow manages to pull through and turns in to a gorgeous looking fish!

:mwave: Go team go? ;)

Like the others said clean water and no stress and hope for the best.Hopefully its not a parasite.Try to get him feeding on a flake high in spirulena.Mine cant resist live blackworms.

my fish had the same problem i dont think the can see well wiith the cloudy eye, but just wait hes sick i doubt u feel like eating when your sick

I do fish rescue at a few of my lfs, and I got a little guy (haven't a clue what he is) and one of his eyes were beat up pretty bad, now hes only got a little bit of the cloud left, and he seems to be able to at least see movement and shapes. I have a rescue Jewel that is missing his eye after a former tank mate mauled him. His eye was as white as snow, and had a fluffy film all over it, after being in the tank with salt and lots of TLC, he healed up, but he lost the eye, but he is happy now, and has found a perch on top of my jet, and he keeps his eye to the world, and whats left of the bad eye, (he cant see a thing out of it) he keeps towards the corner of the tank. Good luck!

Hey Guys,

Finally got the 10 gallon up and running. Took the AquaClear 50 off my established 30 gallon, while replacing it with a new Aqueon 30 I got with a tank. So the EBJD is in a 10 gallon, with 10 gallons of water from the 30 gallon, lots of Stress Zyme, the established 50 gallon AC, a 100 watt heater (currently 83 degrees). I hope he can make it.

Do you guys think the 30 gallon will be able to sustain itself with just established water and gravel, with the completely new 30 gallon filter?

Am I effectively sacrificing the 30 gallon inhabitants at this point?

As you can see, the EBJD has a white orb over his pupil, while the rest of the eye remains clear and dark. What could this be?

I have some crushed coral (as the tap PH is very low) in the EBJD tank. In total, less than a pound in the whole 10 gallon, is this too much?

Can't test the water, ran out of my last test strip...

What do you guys think?

Sorry about the blurry pics, best I could do...

I have an spare air pump and air stone, should I hook this up?

I was thinking the 50 AC would provide sufficient circulation on a 10 gallon?

The air pump is very loud, think it spooks the fish.
