I know some medicines will cause fishes eyes to cloud over. I bought some fish online and did not have a quarintine tank setup and spread ick to my some of my other fish. after a couple of days of treatment my severums eyes would get cloudy. as soon as I changed the water and stopped treatment their eyes cleared up. your fish was sick before and he might have been treated and possibly overmedicated to cause cloudiness. try adding a little aquarium salt to your tank. fish need electrolytes too.
i got a peacock bass from a friend and it wasnt in good condition it had a white orb looking thing on its eye
it was just bad water quality the fish had been in within 3 days of fresh water/salt and pimafix or water ever its calld hes right now no cloudyness
but just watch out for sign of itching to he might have that ick disease thats how my ebjds died sad though but watch him carefully

i just re-read the other post. salt will cause a slight haze over the eye, not a white orb looking thing like he stated. not sure what that is.
well hmm just keep on eye on him just keep up water changes daily i guess and add wat you took out back in with the medicine
