Howdy,

That might spell big trouble if you try to create a school ...

yeah i'm not buying one anytime soon, much less a shoal. I just meant that I wouldn't spend a grand on one when i could get perfect specimens for half that.

If you go to aquascapeonline.com there piraya's are 150 for 5" and they had a 16" for 1500. So it seems like this could be standard for piraya?

One thing I've learned in my significant sales career is that what an item is offered at and what it actually sells for are usually two different things entirely.
I have books that the cheapest copy available is $200 a few years back. I'm now selling those same books for $2.95 and a lot of them don't even sell at that. IMO there is no ''market'' price, it's just a matter of finding the right buyer who's willing to pay almost for the item and feels it's what they pay.

I agree completely! I'd rather raise one from a baby and know without doubt he's had the best possible care since a baby. I grew my 5 out from 1'' and they're pushing around 14'' now.

you have 14" plus ones? are those the ones you have in your avatar? you sound like you've got experience with this specie would you care to share?

Yeah, I have 6 ranging from 11''-14''. I don't feel I have much more knowledge than is generally available on the internet. Basically just my own experiences. I'm more than happy to answer anything I know.

My avatar picture is a group of Natts. I had. I need to get a camcorder and start taking video or at least a digital camera.

Thank you for the kind words. I don't have too much knowledge, just enough to know that there are many books and articles out there that are total bunk. I found a Piranha book the other day that read like an ill-written Science-Fiction plot, complete with accounts of mass killings in their native rivers. The species were listed incorrectly, the author never acknowledged that there is a ''Red Piranha'' other than Natts. Brandti were categorized as S. Niger as were all other Serrasalmus genus. It's a shame such garbage could ever be published much less read.

The first thing to realize is that individual fish have their own personalities and habits. Those personalities and habits usually vary greatly.
