you do realize the massive difference between the two right?
I for one would keep a peacock in a ten gallon for life
Yes, I realize the difference in size, habit and needs and feeding.
Did you mean would or wouldn't??
I have a 10 long which is occupied by my newts. If he looks cramped I'll switch them...and it'd be nice to have a mantis in my room instead of in the living room where my mom sprays all sorts of organic solvents...I'm lecturing my family about organic solvents right now ;D

get some pics when you put him in the tank... i wanna see
Sure, I definately will! Here's a few pics of the tank since Day 1 up till 1.5 weeks:
All rocks and the coral thing are collected from a rock beach. (Free).
Sand cost $4 for 5kgs.
HOB was from before.
Heater was from before.
Motor in worm ring from an ancient HOB (circulation)
Thermometer $2
Snails from rock beach
$4 of livestock: Two clarkii clowns and this...yellow...fish? Also a molly
Help me spot potential places the mantis would choose to construct a burrow. I don't want him hiding in the back corner spending it's days holed up like Saddam. I have tried to decorate so as to provide some good areas near the front and middle for a mantis to pick a burrow spot. I will put a PVC pipe near the front so hopefully he will duck into there when I introduce him and maybe he will choose to stay there.
A nice rock
My favorite rock: the chips are very nice.
Future food but for now they help cycle
I keep my brine shrimp here for my FW fish (I know the mantis will whack the thing apart later)
Overview of the tank. Note the HOB motor in the worm ring and ignore the ugly pokemon clip.
I hope he will contruct a burrow in between the gray flat rock and the front glass, down the middle in between the rocks or on the right hand side. I have decorated to encourage this.
Top view.
Finally, I need lots and lots of decorating tips. I might get some "shelf coral" live rock to make a platform over the bottom 5", above which where the mantis will rarely swim.
Thanks for your time!
Edit: One more question. Is the sand too deep or not? Some of it seems to be very tiny crushed coral. This will become live, right?
