i would reccomend either a red tailed catfish or a tilapia butterkofry of the same size
a redtail cat in a 100 gal i think that would be a really bad idea ! to be honest i don't think an indoor aquarium is a good idea for the rtc as they grow to some size you would need a pond for them .

The mbuna idea sounds like your best option. They are tough as nails. Give them a few caves that the FH cant enter.

nothing can be kept with a male fh

I have a big flowerhorn which is mean ass hell and I can't seem to keep anything with even a two feet silver arowana. any of you guy have any luck with you flowerhorn setup? I am looking for a good tank mate which can handle the flowerhorns aggression. btw the tank is a 100 gallon. he is in there by himself with a pleco. I was wondering if a 13 inch redline can last with him thanks for the suggestions. :feedback:
good luck my friend, flowerhorns R very territorial, u made the mistake of letting him be in tank by himself, i would suggest that u put him in a 10/20 tank for a while, put other cichlids of equal size in 100gal for a while & then after about 2/3 months introduce him back into the community tank, that way he is the new fish on the block.

try another flowerhorn as tank mate :D

get a school of giant danios.....get like 50 of them and watch them retreat when the FH chases them....fun to watch i might say....make sure you get alot cause they rely on other danios if danger is near.....if they are singled out they might be in trouble....but who cares there cheap right....
