110G Tank Stand - Lots of Pics

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am going to bring this thread back to life and say thank you to everyone for their comments. These tank stands are actually really fun to build. Doesn't take a whole lot either. I will be building another stand as soon as I decide what size tank I am getting.

I know it is so hard to decide....haha... great thread..lots of fun.,..and you do great work... looking forward to seeing the next.

Thanks Liz. I encourage you to check out the Indy DIY Guys thread in the DIY section. You can see where Mike and I are getting a whole bunch of projects going.

I know that the stand is overkill for just a 110, but you soon find out that it is just as cheap if not cheaper to use 2x4s to build. So you figure, why not make it extra solid so you never have to worry about it.

Thanks, we are now under taking a new project. Building a stand that will hold three 120s across. It will be in multiple sets.

Quick question, I am building a double 55 stand. Will I need a support in the middle going to the floor? Or can I build it without the center support? The four corners only and of course a box support.

Is it a side by side or 2 high? if it's side by side I'd think an 8' span would sag over time, 2 high I'd think you'd be okay, maybe use 4x4's instead of 2x4's for the legs though.

He went ahead and built that stand a while back. We used 2x4s for the legs and he built it so the tanks are stacked. Works really well.

Pharaoh great build, i just bought some supplies for the one i am building but have not started yet.. i was wondering how you attached the bottom frame to the verticals? it looks like the verticals just sit on it? i know nothing about how to build stands for the most part.. i was just intrested on how you attached them. thx and again looks good
