12 Volt Man's Aqueon 150 Gallon Startup Thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
one thing that I can't figure out is that they all have nip marks on them. I know I had nippy clowns at one time, because I saw that in person.

but that was months ago. I have been watching these fish for months and never have seen any nipping going on. but they are nipped..

it could be either:

a) barbs nipping barbs and SD's nipping SD's (they don't touch any but their own)
b) barbs nipping barbs and SD's
c) SD's nipping barbs and SD's

or it could be no nipping at all -these guys can be pretty skittish and when they flip around and when smaller they can tear fins easily.

I have no idea lol

Great thread man! Your lemons have an incredible growth rate, more than most of my cichlids! Tank looks f'in sweet and I wish you the best of luck..

what happened to the synodontis

I had to put him in the quarentine tank because someone literally ate all the fins off of him :(

they are growing back slowly though..although I am not sure how much they will recover..

I suspect he may have been a victim of a hungry barb..

so my small syno didn't work out to well in the big tank..

they are one of my all time favs, I have kept them for many years, and I will have another one. but I will have to grow it up some first in the smaller tank before it can go in the big tank.

I picked up a bunch of barbus filamentosa today. one of my favorite barbs. I had a school of 4 semi adults in my old fishroom that were stunning, so I think a school will look great in the big tank.

they are in the quarentine tank to be grown up a bit first though because they are a bit small. probably redhook food if I tried putting them in there now..
