120 gal RIMLESS wide in progress ...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hey zennzzo ! I'm either misunderstanding the picture or ...

I never thought of putting the top ( the base ) for last ... I guess that would be some new technique - it never really crossed my mind to do it that way ... I would say that you're better off having the base on the ... base =] and then do your sides ...
why would you wanna put the tank upside down and then put the top on it ? you won't be able to make many corrections / adjustments if the glass will slide a bit one way or another ...

you are reading WAAAAAAY too much into the simple diagram...
the side panels sit "ON" the bottom, as opposed to setting "NEXT" to the bottom panel...

In other words, if the bottom panel alone, measured 3' x 6', when the sides are installed it would still have a 3' x 6' footprint...as opposed to a 3'1" x 6'1" foot print...;)

are you goung to put some kinda hood on it?

on my rimless 120G ? or on the project tank that this guy is hijacking my thread with ??? :P

My rimless will NOT have any hood ( IMO they are real ugly )

No hijack. Was just simply asking a question. The website garf uses the method where u silicone the sides of the tank to the sides of the bottom opposed to the top of it. I was simply asking what u did

I was JK brother, no worries ! ;) I'm curious myself about the different methods, I will be making another tank like that even bigger so I'm very open for any kind of suggestions ;)

Your rimless tank is sick! I love how the driftwood and stuff comes out the top. Good work!

I'd guess that silicon is stronger in sheer (putting the sides on top of the base) than it is in tension (putting the sides on the outside of the base). But I don't have any source to back that up ;)

Just couple of pics from today, the tank must be something like a full month old =]

Still trying to ID the deficiencies that there might be since my Echinodorus are not doing well :/ Everything else is doing I guess OK, something is missing for sure, I think the growth should be even faster than this ... I'll keep observing and the time will show !

Thanks for looking !

ps. close up pic is of one of my very fave plants Ammania gracillis starting to creep outta the tank = ]
