2 would be nice, I have read that they are fine in groups so yes it should, the same place i read they get along said they might get into some disputes once in a whiile but minor fights are not a big deal...
 
I recommend putting in more than just one bichirs like one of the previous posts said. Good luck! :)
 
What size 120 gallon. If your getting a 4 foot 120 then don't just throw a crap load of fish in it. Bare bottom tanks are easy to clean but not very showy. This thread doesn't work if you just listen to oscaroo. We need more info about what you want ouuta your fish. Schooling fish are great, and so are bichirs. Centerpiece fish should be what you base ur tank on and surround your main fish that add appeal to the tank

I am just trying to help him. i know you know more than me but i have experience and have some knolage on fish too.
 
I'm not questioning your fish knowledge but a thread doesn't work if its just 2 people talking back and forth. Tell him what u think and check the thread later to chime back in after others post

The Silver Dollars are a must, and I might do sand again, IDK. I mostly want fish that are unique, because my planted community tank gets boring to look at.
 
If you like uniqe fish get blood parrots... A lot of people dont like them but I do...
