I have my spray bar hooked up to one of my fx5. The second fx5 is still making a really bad noise.
I have hooked a garden hose up to the fx5, taken it apart, cleaned all the parts, replaced the gasket in the motor and it is still loud.
Should I just stick with one fx5?
I am going to try swapping out motor housings and see what happens till then I think I can move on with this set up.
What do you guys think?

Looks good although you might consider larger holes for better flow though. Just a thought. Use one fx5 till you figure out what's going on. Its still enough filter for the tank

Check the magnet on the impeller to see if it has been gouged by sand if its rough it can be smoothed out with sand paper or replaced.

Good looking out. I'll be taken that bad boy apart tonight. Thnx.
Are you suggesting I up the size on my spray bar? It's 1/2 now. Should I bump it up to 3/4?

Try ½" first but increase the hole size you drilled. Will allow for better water flow and less resistance on the pump. It will also help heeping from clogging up due to slime and algae. You can always build another one later if need be.

Tanks full, filter is running, spray bar works great, and two bags of substrate installed. I'll do a w/c tomorrow and add some more substrate.
I plumbed in a T on two intakes to have an intake on each side of the tank. That did not work out very well.
Tell me if this sounds crazy but should I drop the tubing down to 1/2 in order to have two intakes on the fx5?
3/4 doesn't work very well.
