125 gallon tank ideas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yup that looks fine to me. For the tetras I would go with something on the peaceful side, like colombians. Be careful with barbs because (some species) may nip the flowy trailing fins of the angel and gourami.

Okay sounds good just out of curiosity a friend of mine recommended I should look at a flagtail? Any opinion on if this would work if I dropped the gourami and 2 angelfish? And I think I will get 2 canisters 2 of the 550 gph with a powerhead thanks for all the input and help I appreciate it.

If you like the oscar so much why not just get the Oscar?

With your stocking list you look like your planning to max the bio load which would result in the same amount of maintenance as the Oscar?

Not trying to stir the pot but why skip on a wanted fish that you can house?

I agree with the above. I have a 125 as well. Currently has two oscars (tiger and albino) growing out with 5 SD’s and eventually a trio of Bichirs (Endli, Ornate and Delhizi). The Oscars are the stars of the tank. They’re so personable and should be fine for quite some time in a well maintained 125. I’m running one FX6 with bi weekly vacuuming and water changes ~50%. It’s an option.

Well i keep getting told I can hardly house anything with a single oscar in a 125. I really don't understand how. But I don't even know what would be acceptable to keep with it at this point. I really want a schooling fish at the bottom, the acara and severum to go with him..

I do love oscars always have. The most personable fish ever to me. But could i do something like this.
1 oscar
1 red spot severum
1 acara
5 clown loaches? Or something that's a bottom dweller any ideas?
And some type of algae eating pleco?

Imo that’s too many fish. But ultimately it’s your tank, you can stock what you want.

If my tank I would aim for a final full grown Oscar and pleco or catfish. I would def raise a bunch of molly fish with the Oscar while growing and I would hope they could live together (I don’t think they will) but oscars are pretty much plantless loners.

Well i would like some more diversity i will not do the loaches at all looking at it now thats a lot of bulk when they are all adults to much for me to handle definitley. Do you think
1 oscar
1 severum
1 acara
1 smaller pleco
Maybe some platys or something? If they get eaten at some point oh well thoughts on this?
