Shootz I would still sport this even though its "overcrowded". Whoever has this tank is the man!!! What's wrong with this tank jcardona1?[YT]<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/dONqcKWYPpk&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/dONqcKWYPpk&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>[/YT]
Now thats overdoing it. That is cruel for those pbass to live like that. There must be AT least 20 if not more in that tank

I love the fact that people on this forum and on others assume that fish in smaller tanks are unhappy or stressed. Firstly your humanizing fish. Your putting them in yours shoes and assuming they feel the same way about life as people or other animals, like dogs. Secondly, unless you have a 20,000 gallon tank with a school of 12 neon tetras in it your over stocking. Its that simple. There’s nothing natural about putting a 12" Midas in a 75 gallon tank, but that’s what most would recommend. Also, in nature do you really think there is filters/pumps constantly humming and sending out electromagnet waves through the tank that fish are sensitive too? Hmm sorry but if anything im thinking that’ll be stressful after all, they never shut off. Same with super bright lights for fish that would usually be lurking in plants/under logs and in the darkest shadows possible. Also as to the argument that some people make that the fish must be unhealthy, well, if you haven’t noticed Cichla, especially young ones, are horridly sensitive to ICH and HITH. If the water and conditions was so badly out of wack you can bet one of the two would show up pretty fast. And FYI I have Cichla in a 125. The largest is 13". They’re fine. Waters perfect. Also have tank mates that would make peoples eyes bug out. But because of people who have nothing better to do them rants reactions i don’t post pics/stock lists on this site. I just snoop pics. And now, back into the shadows i go. :banhim:

it's not about humanzing fish. i HATE when people humanize animals. it's simply about the pyhsical requirements of those fish. 13" is not big for cichla. if you owned and ADULT-SIZED bass you'd be whistling a different tune about keeping them in a 125g. and it's not only about the size of the fish, as it obvious a fish like a silver arowana can do just fine in a small tank do to their swimming habits and how they can turn on a dime. cichla are a little different, as i stated in my above posts.

agree :) lpenn31 just do what you want and enjoy your fish! Bottom there will be people will tell you it's "not right" or "it shouldn't be done" but then again there will be members that support you and praise your cichla. Enjoy the hobby!

That is really no different than cramming 10 dogs into a 8'x10' pen. It's still cruel, even if these are "only fish" as some would say. Keeping creatures that you can't afford to house properly is just wrong. I know, I know. You didn't ask for my opinion, but you get it anyway. This is a public forum.

In the long run you are right definatly right jose i have been looking into making a huge block and cement tank with a viewing window or a 1000 gal acrylic both of them i will build myself now to try and cut costMy largest cichla is 11 inches right now i bought them as fry and DO NOT want to sell them i like them to much so i will find a way.....But you guys are warning and i will tell you first hand it does not sink in until they reach 10 or 11 at least for me thats what it took all the warning until you guys were blue in the face ........I know it sounds cruel but they are fish after all and i'm not saying i condone it .It just won't matter till someone tastes what you are talking about first hand Big J:redface:Ya know one more thing i am an avid fisherman and eat my catch but it would hurt me to see my fish suffer I know it;s a contradiction and wierd to some of you but thats the way i feel.Shweeew long winded i am:ROFL::ROFL:

yeah those members that don't know what they are doing or just don't care much about the fish.. the members that think more of what they want and not the fish's needs... anybody who would think an adult pbass(which should be in the 20+inches) is fine in a 18" wide tank is just cruel

i believe im going to go with a pike cichlid and some other tank mates and yes i will have a peacock until it gets to large i want to enjoy one for as long as possible.
