125G > 240G South American Cichlid Tank (Severum / Geos)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That sounds like it'll be a fantastic looking setup when they all get into the 240. Good luck on the L191 royal's growth rate - it's slow. I had mine from about 2" and it grew to about 7-8" in a little over 3 years. Not a very fast growing pleco, but it is absolutely stunning when they get bigger. The color is unlike most others. Yours still has the white on the tail, which will completely disappear as he grows.

Here's mine at maybe 3" and then again around 7":

Where did you get the Rotkeils? I'm trying to find some and the ones I just got look like they're not Rotkeils after all.

I don't think you would have any trouble going through Jeff Rapps, they are his bread and butter for sure.

Jeff is a great resource for sure! His current stock is showing larger wild caught Rotkeils. I wanted to raise some from smaller sized fry around 1 to 2 inches so I looked on aqua bid and got them from dealer there with good reviews. First time purchase; the little ones have no color so we will see what they look like in a year :) will post some pics of them regardless later tonight.

2x Rotkeil severum about 2 inches in length from Aquabid. A few photos.

Nice identification pictures, 8 clearly marked bars. The best part to me, is that the first individual shows the gill bar and the second doesn't show it as clearly. Likely due to angles and stuff, but it helps newer people learning to identify them.

Awesome! Just learned something new myself!
