Then it should be stable enough... just that they dont do so well in newer / fresher systems..

Tanks are looking sweet guys!

Fat Homer Fat Homer I set up a 5.5l crystal black tank lol, what do you think? Have had 4 of them living in it for a few months now, no filter; relies on plant biomass basically. The holy grail is to see if I can get them to breed in it lol.IMG_20170605_215115.jpg

He's alive! That's a good looking walstad setup ;)

I received 60 plants from a local forum member, I did a rescape of my 70 and it's awesome! Doing root tabs and liquid co2 soon :D20170605_202014.jpg

Haha, I am alive now and again lol. Nice looking set-up mate, skills are coming on!

I've got a thin layer of substrate, not sure it qualifies as walstad; or maybe it does lol.

Thanks! got a load of free plants from a member of a local forum, 40 various java ferns, 11 bolbitis mostly as long as my forearm, some flame moss and a few crypts :D

If all filtration is natural it's close enough

Looks good!!!

I think as long as they are getting fed properly they should start breeding given parameters are stable and temperatures not too high (which in England shouldn't be a problem)...

If you still find them not breeding after say a month or more, then i would maybe consider adding a small clump of moss or something for the young shrimp to feel comfortable and maybe help the adults feel like breeding...

That's looking good! I'm going to be hand building a custom 32"x16"x16" tank with one of the best tank builders in the country. For only $35

Going to put my efforts and saving into that
