Yeah tough call if you cant source the shrimp locally... then it really comes down to the seller and what they give you quality wise...

Also, regarding the water, just cause your LFS shrimp make it, doesnt guarantee your nicer quality shrimp will... coz at least for me, i've found higher grade CRS as a lot more fragile than lower quality ones... although could just be me...

The shrimp from my lfs will likely be higher quality than the ones I'm ordering. I plan to order S grade shrimp, and my lfs will have S+ - SS+ considering the shrimp are $6 each.

Not sure about your neck of the woods but it depends on stores here... a lot claim to sell S grade or above shrimp (more or less same price) but few actully have truly S or above quality of shrimp
 
I got my sakuras for free but they aren't good quality. I have been offered some pumpkins from a local breeder for free too, plus some buce and mini bolbitis. He also wants some of my crypts and moss so fair trade.

What would you guys think of chocolate gouramis for a jungle tank?

You could throw in a pea puffer too. A puffer would complete the jungle tank look.
 
Hmmm. Probably not since I'll have otos and so on that may suffer

I had otos and my puffer never touched them. They're actually one of the best fish to keep with puffers.

May be investing a bit of money into chocolate gouramis too so rather not risk it. On my to keep list though

Haha I have 2 snails in my 15 gallon now. Gonna see if they survive on all the plang crap in there
