135g build out

the fixed 125g holds water! so as long as that keeps over the weekend I'll get the 135g's equipment up an running and then dismantle the 100g, sell it and dismantle the stand to use as a start for the hood and stand for the 450g.

I'll use the money from the 100g sale to get the mortar required for the pond and finish that, then once the pond is up and runnign I'll sell the repaired 125g ( for dirt) along with the custome wood stand and hood as well as the sump. filtration, lighting, and decoration from the 135g (where the money will come from)

and that will give me enough to finish the 450 compeltely (ie the pretties that will make up the bulk of the build cost).


so I'm looking at having the 450g coated early next week, leak test a week after it's dry and then the build will go on hold until the pond is done.

oh yeah and somewhere in there I've got to build the sump, stand, and hood for the 450. lol

finished the 125 so my fish are happy for the moment while I sell the 100g, and finish the pond. then what you see in the pics below will be sold to pay for the rest of the 450g build. note the before pic. I'm quite proud of the transformation.

did some work on the hood over the weekend as well as the top bracing. Hood is going to be mainly glass and I don't think I'll fully seal the panels in, I think it'll be better for maintenance if I just have the wood in place and the top doors screwed on but leave the back glass kind of floating. Well not flaoting because the main piece of glass weighs alot on its own (72"x17"x.5") the other two pieces on the sides of it are 15"x15.5" x .25" and the main access area to the tank is a glass door that's 49"x15.5"x.25" but that's in the front half.

I'll post up some pics tonight to show what I mean. but if I have it this way it should be perfectly sealed while allowing me to access a good bulk of the tank if necessary (which it will be as I haven't sealed it yet lol)

pics of what I'm trying to do. so the back is where the lighting will be placed will have 4 4' T8 units totalling 4 20k t8 bulbs and 4 acintics. Should be plenty especially for a fowlr.

So for the most part only the front of the top will be visible. I haven't decided if I want to mount the 2 15"x15.5" pieces of glass to the 72"x17" one.

the door is off of an ikea shelf and the hinges work great. I have a couple more but I think I'll actually screw the plywood down in the front of the hood after I seal the tank. It will reduce accessibility but if I leave the glass panels removable, that will give me pleny of access if necessary.
