$600?! I have a 2' silver aro does this mean I should charge $1,500? You can get a 2' arowana from a LFS for $300 and they mark up fish like crazy. Drop the price to $100 and maybe you can sell it.

yea.. you'll be lucky to get rid of him for $80 +. If you really want to get rid of the aro and give it a good home lower your price. Or youll end up sending it to the pet store for nothing, or worse it will end up dead.

hey man, not for nothing, and not trying to put you down-but you will never see that price for a silver arow-you couldn't even sell a black arow for that price at that size (which is normally about 3 times more expensive then a silver arow)
you have three choices here:
1. you sell it for about $80-$90 if its in as good of condition as you've stated
2. you trade it into a lfs and get about $20-$40 fish credit
3. you keep it, which as you've stated is a small tank; where it's growth will be stunted and it's life will be short (almost like you living in your closet for the rest of your life-sounds cool doesn't it!!!)
arowanas need a large tank-if you don't have a 240 tank minimally for him to mature, then you shouldn't have this fish-not trying to nag you, but do your homework on arowanas
and tell your dad to go to a pet store to see what a silver arow that size is worth, because he is way off
good luck to you as I hope you find him a good home
John

Also, regardless of what you can buy a baby silver arowana for in your area you are forgetting that these fish are a bit different than say other animals, or even commodities, as they rarely more valuable when you have more of them. In your example your fish is getting to big for your tank, which happens a lot, so there is a surplus of sellers in your position.

Now if it was a stingray, or rarer fish, then you might be in luck as they usually appreciate in value.

I will recommend you to stard saving to upgrade your tank, cuz i don't think you going to sell it at that price!!! sorry
