140 Gallon Indoor Turtle Pond Build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just the one female so the were not fertilized. I had to take her to the vet and after a period of time that she wouldn't lay they gave her a shot and she layed them there. The first time they can have troubles but after that they usually do better, if they do it again. Without natural daylight chnages they don't always lay eggs. Some people let them run around outside to lay when they are ready. Basiclly they need an area they feel is safe for the eggs, i figure a place in the take is good.

In the next year or two i'll be upgrading and will again do the deep sand but not as deep and have a bigger footprint.

hmmm interesting..i just recently got mine a couple weeks ago so i dont know if she has layed...how do you know if they have eggs?

Some people kinda poke them infront of the hind legs to feel and some go by looks, if they can't pull there hind legs in all the way (assuming they are not fat and can normally get them in all way)

I wasn't sure why she was acting funny so i took her and and they took x-rays.

thats pretty sweet...i hope one of mine is a male so i can get some hatchlings lol

Males and females tend to fight more and the male can accidentaly drown the female while mating. This is typicaly done in a tank with an inch or two of water.
