140 Gallon Indoor Turtle Pond Build

well im going to start getting the materal for my turtle pond ...... the only questions i got would be with your mesurments how tall is the pond and will it fit through a standerd size door? i would like to buil this in my garage then trandsport it dining room ..... im a young carpenter and this looks like a fun challlge. I have two turtles 1.yellow belly slider and 2. cooter ...... as yours "1 the larger one of 7" in length" is struggleing to climp up the large ramp i had bought for his 75 gallon tank ..... this is a great build and i caint wait to start my new project GOOD JOB!!!tscharf;4011917; said:
its chill no wrries, like you were saying though about the dimensions through the door, just build yours to make it through the door, you can actually adjust the length and width of the design to make it more suitable for your needs

You'll need a clamp lamp or other light fixture with a ceramic socket. Plastic ones may melt.
The lamp should point STRAIGHT DOWN or it will burn out.
IMO, put it 13-17" away from the turtle, or 16-20" away from the dock.

good choice with the pool filter sand. i use it in my tanks and it works well, even with plants, surprisingly. Only thing I suggest is to give it a good whirl once its filled with water cause air bubbles are probably caught in it, and now without your stock in it will be the best time to get all those out. It will give you really cloudy water for a day or so, but should clear up soon, especially with a filter attached. You'll be surprised how much air gets trapped underneath.
