I have to hold off though...maybe. The thing is that the feeders have given my flowerhorn a mild case of ich. Should I treat the ich first, or use the carbon?.
Oh crud, I knew it. When you said you'd given feeders I bit my tounge not to post again. That's the quickest way to get your fish sick and he's already sick from all the meds and everythign else. NEVER give feeders! If you want to quarrantine them for a month and treat them for parasites 1st-fine. But they're not good nutrition anyway.

Yeah, I never give feeders to any of my fish. With hybridtheoryd16's suggestion though I bit the bullet. I'm desperate to get my guy to eat and it seemed like that would be a good way to provoke him. Now I have a whole new mess of problems.

Treated for ich last night. Hasn't been 24 hours and it's nearly cleared up. Tonight I will throw some carbon in the canister and do another WC(30%) to get the water pristine.

My guy is still alive and still not eating, feces is still white and fuzzy.

I'll make up a batch of the gel food with prazipro tonight. If he doesn't take to it right away, what do you guys think about force feeding with a syringe?

How are you treating ich?

I used Ick Clear by Jungle Labs. The main ingredients are Victoria Green and Acriflavine. I'm pretty sure that Victoria Green is the same thing as Malachite Green.

How is it today? With all the problems it's had good luck always feels good if you can nurse them back to full health.

Well the ick is gone, but he is still only at about 60% health. I'm worried he isn't going to make it.

Oh? What's it doing? With Ick one of the safest no meds method people swear by is raising the heat to 86F and adding Aquarium/water softening Salt. But since you've already lowered the temp i'd keep it and jsut keep the water as clean as you can.

Careful with Ick the lifecycle is a few weeks with the temp you've got it at about 80F, correct? Whatever you do don't give up hope just yet. With meds it can reduce the time but it may damage bb in tank. Just keep an eye on the fella.

I had a w/c green terror I had trouble getting to eat, he hardly ate (I saw him eat a few pellets but not much) for about 6 months, I went through multiple treatments with Jungle parisite clear, kept feeding him (remove uneaten food) and eventually (a couple weeks back) he started eating, and seems to be putting on size now.

Not sure exactly what the problem was, I think it was a combo of parasite and picky wild caught fish, who didnt understand the pellets were food.

Wow, that must have been a pretty frustrating 6 months. I would be happy if I saw my Flowerhorn eating just 1 pellet.
