Hi first post here,

Been keeping fish for many years but first time with two bucket list fish - True Parrot (4inch) and Flagtail Prochildodus (4inch)

I also have a Royal Acara (4 inch) and Uaru (7 inch) from previous stocking

What fish would everyone recommend to compliment these fish? I have a 5x2x2 which is approx 150 US Gallons

5ft tank too small to house all of them. That true parrot can reach a foot to 16 inches and the flagtail can reach a little over a foot as well. Royal acara will gain some more size as well along with the uaru.

Since you already have the acara and uaru (seeing there's no issues because they're more active in groups of they're own kind), you could do a small group of angels and something for the bottom like tapajos.

Unless you plan on getting a bigger tank in the near future, those parrots can be a hit or miss with aggression towards other tank mates.

appreciate the advice, what would you personally stock in a 5x2x2 when it comes to south americans

Previously had an Oscar for 7 years and a few severums

Part of me wants to go back to the same setup with another oscar but picked up the uaru and acara off a seller and thought the true parrot and flagtail could work but the potential size and lack of territory makes it difficult

Since the Uaru is premarily a vegetarian, and Aequidens diadema (if that´s whara royal acata is called in your area) is an omnivore, instead of getting an oscar or more carnivorus cichlids (although a couple more of each (Uaru and Aequidens might make a more natural presentation), in S American waters, tetras (or other Characins) usually outsumber cichds about 10 to one, so to me a shoal of size approriate omnivorus geographically correct tetras, or Anostomids would seem appropriate, and make the cichlids more comfortable.
