I think weight for weight aquaclear biomax is cheaper than matrix, but I only compared them in store with the weight on the packaging and pricing.


The aquaclear 110 biomax and bottle of matrix weigh about the same and the matrix was more.


Post pics when the ray and aro are in the tank.


I am going to do this myself this summer with a ray and retic.

i have 8L of matrix in my sump along with other medias (bio rings eheim substrate etc.......) i will also be adding a few large chunks of lavarock... and probblay another 2 or 3l of eheim substrate pro... total questimate now is 14l of total media not counting the FBF filter or my old protien skimmer thats filled with bio balls soon to be switched to either matrix or eheim substrate pro...

i had the same sump on my pond get rid of it the little feet on the bottom broke and leaked you will see it in my pond post

i meant you can see pics when i had that sump and the new one i thought i wrote about it.but any way that sump will break i also have my heaters on glass...i even had it on insulatoin board

How did you get the pump to replace water at the same rate it siphons in? What would happen during a power outage? I'm curious because I plan on building something similar for a much larger pond and want to figure out the configuration of it.
