160 gallon vinyl flooring lined tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Passed the leak test. Naturally the day I drain it to bring it inside the condensation stopped. I didnt finish the double tier yet. I am gonna try and finish it up here and there and hopefully have it "sealed" and ready for the weekend. So for now Its filled and inside with my temp plant holder on top. I have 50lbs of playsand so tmw I will dump that in just to give me something to look at other than speckled vinyl floor. Dont know when I will put the finishing exterior touches on, right now its the last thing on my mind.

As is

put the sand in looks alot better. forgot to buy my rubber sealer:( hopefully i am near the store tmw so I can stop in and finish the tier. Also forgot ceiling hooks to hang my light gr.

Interested to see the long term testing to see how the vinyl holds up

long term i can see the vinyl holding up pretty good. its not only strong but its also flexible also.

my big concern with using it is will there be things leeched into the water as t here are grades of vinyl that are potable and some that are not

hopefully the charcoal will take care of it, I put a hand full in a container at the end of the "waterfall". I also almost gave myself a heart attack. When I put the container in I didnt watch the waterfall. I walk into the room 1hr later and water is dripping on the floor. I almost died. It just turned out the waterfall moved closer to the wall and had a tiny stream going onto the plywood. All better now. Got the rubber applied, will check tmw to see if I need more. I am already thinking about scrapping the double tier and making a glass tier HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Someone please help me :nilly:

Awesome. You just convinced me to build my own plywood tank after a year of hemming and hawing. Off to go plan!
More pics please!

very cool idea but unfortunately vinyl will not hold up to water on a long term basis water will damage it it be really cool if you got a year out of it though.
