dude, i didn't think so either, but a pacu may survive in a cold water lake, i caught a huge one in flushing lake in new york queens, last year, it was march, and the water was at least 45-50 degrees, i'm serious, so if i were you i would dump him in a nice clean lake....then fish him out in the spring, and eat him...
Just what we need, another invasive specie. Not!!!! Wasn't losing the snakehead enough!!!

It's not nonsense. I was trying to understand what you're talking about. You have referred to chlorophyll as an element, a solvent, a solvent like substance, a detoxifier, AND it is found in everything green. It is none of those things as far as I know, and I simply asked for a source. I would like to learn more. I personally don't care what you're doing with it.

However, it does alarm me that you told someone to release an aquarium fish into non native waters. I don't think that was very sound advice. That is the last thing anyone should ever do. Better to pull it out and kill it then to release it. And no, I wouldn't eat my fish either, but that doesn't mean I agree with your reasoning. It sounds like you are just making stuff up (and based on a few posts, I think you are).

Who cares about the FDA? The point was that you made some claims and they were all proven wrong. Will you show me some clinical research that says that chlorophyll is a detoxifier?

I hope not, I find this quite interesting!

I had dropped this because I have no problem with having a difference of opinions. However now I seem to be accused of having an ego problem and of trying to eat "The Fishking" because I asked for clarificatiuon of terms and because I disagreed that chlorophyll is a solvent.

That I find annoying.

I do have a strong ego, strong enough to accept correction with no hard feelings, My posting history bears this out as there have been several times when what I thought I knew was wrong, I accepted this correction and moved on.
I do not name myself in a grandios fashion, I do not refer to myself in third party, and I do not claim that dealing with celebrities or sports figures makes me correct. L.Ron Hubbard was a well educated man who now has many followers among the rich and famous, it does not make him less of a hack and certainly does not make him correct.

I have used a wide variety of herbs for a variety of complaints for many years, many are effective, I do however disagree with the hype and faddishness of the current holistic trends.

Back to chlorophyll,
It is a useful chemical compound produced by plants that acts as an oxident in chemical reactions speeding the breakdown of some substances, especially long chain protiens. It is ineffectual against hexavalent compound, stable organophosphates and most heavier metals unless stimulated by electrical current while in a metal rich solution. It is a useful chelating substance against zinc poisoning. When speeding the break down of some compounds the resulting material is sometimes more toxic than the original, an example is acetone into acetic acid.
It breaks down readily when removed from the cell that produced it, exosure to air and sunlight breakdown the porphyrin rings freeing the central magnesium molecule. Because of this chlorophyll does not occur in any signifigant ammount outside of a living plant cell, it certainly does NOT exist as a free floating compound in vast ammount in any natural body of water.

As for having time free time to research this and information on disease organisms perhaps you should make some.
I have taught basic health measures, Field expedient and improvised medical treatments, and even food handling techniques, both as part of a survival course and as part of a community outreach program. Much of this information comes from there. Much of the rest mainly comes from personal experience, organic chemistry classes, and a life time of omnivorous reading. The small portion that remains comes from spending fifteen minutes doing a google search to check my facts (not opinions), before responding to erroneous assertions.
I suggest you do the same or drop the subject, while you are at it you might be well advised to consider your own ego issues.

Yeah, sorry, back to the issue, this pacu needs a home.
