Sure its not a female,i have never seen a male under 14 inches in two years,my male is not even two yet and passed that already, but the last female i had only made it too 12 in two years(eventually made it to 14 inches but that took well over two and half years)all my males have been beasts. Kinda wish my males would stay under 13 that way they wouldnt take up so much tank space. But i do love pearsei so i have no choice but to deal with the size. They will take over a tank if the other tank mates let them. How big is your escondido?

Thats a little of what I fear may happen. I have a Midas who is totally easygoing. (No glass banger or fish killer) He is a slow grower at only 9.25" in over 17 months. Recent additions of a 1.5" Jack Dempsey brought no reaction not even a second glance. The Jack is now 2.5" growing and thriving with the larger Midas. I recently added a 2" Red tiger Mota and again no reaction from the Midas. The Jack does not like the Mota and shows it. This Jack has also killed two different Veija type fish that where his size. Again the Midas did not even care about those fish.

So my long story concludes with I hope the Midas and a future Pearsei can get along. Because I feel even a Pearsei close to his size will "own" him.

I think 3 would be a goood number

only problem i have had with three is if two pair they will beat the hell out of the other(they are suppose to be gentle giants, but out of the 8 i have owned none of them was push overs and most ruled their tanks)

Yeah and I want a pairreally bad so I am going to keep the biggest one and two of thesmaller guys untill they pair then sell the third one.

Does anyone recall who's tank that was that won tank of the yearr a few years back.. it was really big and had a 3d background. Stock was like a pearsei, an argentea, and some cutterii I think. Man that tank became a really big insperation to me. Ever since then I have been trying to save up for a house with a besment so I could set up like a 400 plus gallon tank so I could do something similar.
