Would be ok as a single. If at all possible make sure you get all males if making a commuity cichlid tank. Females even when males are not around still lay eggs, and when they do they turn into Tasmanian devils. I learned this the hard way
Okay, but im not sure how to sex them, i had to get someone else on another forum to sex my texas cichlid.

Actually could i do this?

1 Texas
1 Female Jack Dempsey
1 Salvini
1 Convict Cichlid
6 Firemouth Cichlids
8 Congo Tetras
3-4 Bichirs

Could i do this or no?

The issue is cichlids will want to set up territories. You simple have too many wanting to set up a house basically.

With what I just suggested the tetras would school around, the firemouths would as well with the big 12in Texas pacing back and forth along the whole tank. Not seeing the Firemouths as a threat hopefully and leaves them alone.

Your tank size is not that much bigger than the 125 I am running. I can only see a bloodbath in the near future with that many different cichlids.

Okay, what about

1 Texas
6 Firemouth
8 Congo Tetras
8 Boesemani rainbowfish
3-4 Bichirs
6 Pictus Catfish

I would go with an Ornatus vs the Pictus. The Pictus are a smaller catfish and could be easily eaten by an adult Texas. The Ornatus is bigger and would be less of a risk.

You have to remember that if it can fit in a Cichlids mouth, they will try and eat it.

Catfish have barbs in thier fins that could kill your Texas if it tries to eat them.
Same with the Rainbows. If it can fit it will try to eat it at some point.
