As far as the background goes, you might want to also consider DBN's "Pombo Rocks". They have several pictures in this photo gallery: http://www.designsbynature.net/gallery/?album=4&gallery=23

Ooooh, very nice looks very realistic...now I'm just all confused . I plan to order a BG next week so I must make a decision. Well, I guess we'll find out next week which one I order. Truthfully I think it will come down to a toss of the coin ;) I love them all. Thanks Natalie :D

Haha that's how it was with me. I had such a hard time making up my mind, and when I finally settled on something for more than a few hours I took advantage of it and ordered. :) I think you'll be happy with any number of backgrounds, there's just so much to choose from!

After visiting another thread on filtration I began to wonder if I will have enough filtration for my tank. I revisited the specs on my JBJ filters and they say each filter is for a tank up to 175 gallons, with two of these filters that would be up to 350 gallons (under ideal circumstances). Will this realistically be enough for my 195 gallon. If not what are my options outside of using a sump, (really trying to avoid a sump) to increase the filtration on my tank?

I've considered upgrading my canisters but cant really afford to do so at this point. Any creative (affordable) ideas appreciated..

Thanks-

If your taking the time to set up a show tank. Spending money on a nice background.. don't sell your self short on one of these JBJ Filters. Pick up an FX5 or an Ehiem. Better yet go with a sump set up. The cost of the cheap filters maybe enticing but you wouldn't want to drive a Ferrari with a Fiero engine. Would you?

Thanks-[/QUOTE]

I think I've changed my mind on which BG I will use. After clockwork suggested DBN I went back to their site and came across the "Bulge" background. I still like the look of the Pangea BG a little more, but the cost of DBN's BG is very convincing. I'd like to know what you all think, should I spend the extra $100 or so for the Pangea or does the DBN look just as good if not better for a more loveable price?

The first pic is the DBN BG.

Both backgrounds look great. At the end of the day you will be the one looking at the tank. If your heart is with the Pangea background then how far will a $100 set you back? Don't settle for what if? sucks to have the remorse after you've set everything up and start to wonder, what if I went with the other one? If budget is the issue how soon can you bounce back from spending $100 more for what your heart desires.

Could not agree more, you always get what you pay for.

Thanks R1, I will definitely take a closer look at my project (budget wise) I would rather do it right the first time even if takes a little longer to save for what I really want. I already bought the JBJ filters and I could return them but I will probably use them on my smaller tanks.

Something to consider :) I really don't want to make decisions based on budget that I will regret later and that will ultimately wind up costing more money..Thanks again for the wise words. ;)

I agree with R1 as well. If you want to try and save money/on a buget, try and look for things that can easily be upgraded later when your past the xmas season etc... Lights can be upgraded easily, hoods, canopies, substrate, decor things like that can save allot of money in the short term. I have been doing the same thing, once slice at a time. The things you don't want to go cheap on is: tank, stand, background, filtration.

Installing and even ordering your background should be based around how you planned the equipment, not just looks. Write down your goals on the above mentioned 4 things and then plan out your background choice that suits all your needs.

Thanks Justin, after hearing what R1 said I've decided to get x2 FX5's, I plan to return the two JBJ's and use that $$ to purchase one of the FX5's and purchase the other in a couple weeks.

I really want to thank you guys for your input, I have kept fish on and off since I was a kid, but never on the MFK level. I really do appreciate your words of wisdom. I am listening ;)

On with it then :grinno: I will have updates soon.
