195gallon Freshwater setup

If you are going to return them then why not get a sump? Easier to maintain and allows you to more easily hide heating and other materials instead of working them into the background.

TBH, I really don't have experience with installing a sump(sump virgin), nor do I have anyone to walk me through it. I would really only be comfortable installing one with someone there with me walking me through the process.

I have nothing against sumps, just don't want to risk making critical mistakes since I live in an apartment (i'm already taking a risk with such a large tank). But hey, it's definitely not out of the question. Since it seems as if I'm back at square one with the filtration plans for my tank, I will no doubt do more research and come up with a option that best suits my short and long term goals for this tank.

Once I pick up the tank and stand I will post pictures and we'll take it from there. I am open to all suggestions.

You could easily buy a prebuilt sump and many even come with an overflow box for non predrilled tanks. I wish I had gone sump instead of my 2 canisters. I love my xp4 and like my FX5 but I would trade my FX5 in a heartbeat for a quality sump

Thanks so much everyone, I really appreciate all of your responses and suggestions. :)

I have a quick update, my stand was completed however they built it 1" too tall (height was to be 32" current height 33") it will not fit through my door.
So now I have to wait another week or so for them to solve this problem and build a stand to the correct dimensions. :swear:

Unfortunately I have a family emergency; my husband was hospitalized on Wednesday, I'm hoping he will be released soon. I will have to postpone my project until he has recovered (family always comes first). I will try my best to keep you all updated and thank you again for all of your support.

Talk to you all soon.

+infinity...

Forums, fish, tanks, ect will always be around. Health on the other hand can go in the blink of an eye.

May your husband have a speedy and complete recovery from whatever his ailment is.

Hi Guys,

Quick update, my husband was released from the hospital and is now at home. He is still very weak and will probably be spending the rest of the year recovering. I want to thank you all for your kind words and well wishes for my family. :)

My husband has urged me to continue with my project and I suspect that he is more excited about it than he wants to admit. (I think we got one guys :grinno:)

So, that said, I will be purchasing my BG's today, I decided to also get the BG's for my 10 and 20 gal (as promised Justin :naughty:) along with the BG for the 195.

The tank still isn't home yet, the stand is built we just need to double check if the stand will fit through the door if we add molding to it. So hopefully very soon I will be posting pics of the tank and stand in it's new home.

Keep your fingers crossed guys...new pics coming soon:headbang2

Hes a keeper! :)

Glad to hear everything is alright at home for your family. Hope your project finishes without a hitch!

So here's the winning BG!!! I ordered it yesterday and it has been shipped this morning. DBN is awesome I wasn't expecting it to ship until Monday. I can't wait to see this BG in person.

I took a pic of the BG into my LFS that I bought my tank from the owner almost drooled..

Next on my purchase list x2 FX5's, I have supported my LFS so much that they have given me a great deal on x2 brand new.

I also found my new inhabitant for my 195; a 12" Tigrinus Cat for a knockout price...and local to me. I'm going to take a look at him/her this weekend to make sure she/he's healthy.

Pics of tank/stand coming soon!!!
