195gallon Freshwater setup

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This is an awesome project and I'm super excited for you--can't wait to see how it works out. I have a canopy and was able to mount leds in there for a real nice spotlight effect--wanted shadows and such. Works great!

what fish are you planning to stock the tank with??
I plan on showcasing a 12" Tig in this tank, still debating if I will add any other stock. I really want to understock this tank. I have a 12-13 inch Fire Eel that I may add as well.

Thanks...I'm excited too. Hopefully I will have some pics of the tank soon.

I'm sorry to hear that your background arrived damaged, but glad to hear DBN is sending another one to you. I can't wait to see the background when it's installed!
Thanks Natalie, Matt from DBN was great about the whole thing. I wish getting great customer service was always that easy.

How are things with you and your move? Did you get started on the 40g yet?

EDIT: Totally random Idea but maybe you can put the damaged BG on the bottom of the tank under a layer of sand? Your big catfish will move sand allot and leave areas exposed on the bottom. At least it would look more natural than exposed flat glass?

I'm not going to do anything with the BG until Matt has everything settled with UPS. Just in case UPS wants to see it or take possesion of it (not sure of the process) But if they don't need me to send it back I have something in mind ;)

Quick update:

Talked to my LFS owner, my tank should be ready today...If it is ready I probably wont pick it up until the rain stops. I don't want to take any chances moving it in the rain( glass tank and rain makes me nervous). So keep your fingers crossed.

UPS wants the damaged BG, so I'm giving it to them today and hopefully the new BG will be here today or tomorrow.

Either way MERRY CHRISTMAS TOO MEEEEEE!!!!!!!

I promise pics coming soon...

Finally some pics!!!

In the First Pic, the original stand is behind the new stand (on it's side). I am going to stain the stand myself to ensure that I get a correct match on the canopy since I will be purchasing the canopy later on.

The second pic is the back of the stand...we had an issue with the hole placement more on that later. But what do you guys think about the hole placement?

In the third pic, the LFS owner was showing me what the tank would look like with a tall canopy(that is not the canopy that will be on this tank). I like the tall canopy, he was trying to talk me out of making it taller.

The fourth pic is of my first tank inhabitant. He comes with the tank for free!!! He thinks it suits him better than it would my Tig!

I too like the look of tall canopies. I am still trying to convince my wife to let me build one for my tank BUT it woudl require moving a shelf with wedding pictures on it and she is not too keen on that one...
