I think I would buy used to maximize in size I live in eastern washington kind of by walla walla. Portland may be an option but the drive is 4 hrs. Do tanks make it? The largest tank for sale in this town is 100. I do have the skills to build my own. If I did that what do you guys think of "the cave effect"? Three walls of ply and front glass for viewing. I could build a monster right? Anyone have pics of their 2000 dollar and under indoor/outdoor pond?

if you got the glass off them, the sealant, do they also sell the top and bottom piece? assuming they cut the glass for you and correctly it should be an easy matter of setting the glass in the frame and then sealing it.
dunno how you would round the edges to prevent massive hand cutting, glass polish i guess?
i was thinking about doing this but i just assumed if it were that easy everyone would do it.

dunno if they just sell whole kits to assemble. would be easier to ship i guess. tried googling it but no dice.

thats kinda funny, but wouldnt that be cool. i cant say that ive ever heard of such a thing lol.
anyways i think custom tank building would be the way to go, BUT you will probably spend more the 2,000 bones for a cool tank, complete!!
not sure however. have fun!:)

check out ebay, craigslist and the recycler religiously. i'm talking like 6-10 times a day. when i momentarily got out of the hobby and then jumped back in i found 1 240gl tall with stand/camopy/sump for 500 and then another 240gl regular with stand/canopy/sump for 750. after tearing down the old stand/canopy for both and building new ones i' still only down about 1600 bucks.

come to mention it, i saw a 500gl acrylic with stand/canopy for 1300 bucks not more than 2 or 3 weeks ago.

if you want the most bang for your buck, thats the way to go.

yea used is the way to go i got a 518 gallon galss tank for free, with a stand, so far i have pent about 200 bucks for the diy wet/dry and another 250 for a fluval fx5, all i gotta do now is build a hood which won't cost 2 much

i say ebay or research the net on how to build a wood tank that holds water with a glass front but to each their own i think ebay would be ur best bet
